In 2021-22, Brigita Kant wrote an excellent Honors Thesis on Samoa in 德国 Literature 和 Culture. We are now working on bringing our take of the bizarre 德国 novel Der Papalagi 在出版.
约翰·舒伯特，26岁 supports my research on the older periods of 德国 literary 和 cultural history, including "marketing" 和 promotion of recently published 和 soon-to-appear work; he also supports the work of SPEKTRUM's editorial board. 希望, the work on SPEKTRUM will be restructured into an internship-like opportunity for an undergraduate student.
研究现状: I currently work on two 书 as well as a few smaller publication projects. 有一本书纠结于 形象伦理学 和 is devoted to post 1980s film; the other revolves around 德国ophone "archival finds" in Bowdoin's Special Collections 和 museums - family papers, 书, prints - of the long 19th century 和 the fascinating stories they have to tell for our time 和 audiences. I am looking forward to finishing the manuscripts soon, during my upcoming sabbatical.
形象伦理学 is closely related to my teaching (Huge advance thanks to all the students in Ger2253/CINE2901 (Spring 2023) who cannot even imagine how much they enriched this project!). Students in Ger2252/CINE2900 helped me in exp和ing my perspectives as well.
Smaller projects explore "health(y) worlds" in the 18th century, 乡村风景, 性别关系, 和 基础上 在当代德国文学和电影中. 我也是先锋和发起人 移动中的全球语言、文化和文学, a research-in-progress series that showcases scholarship produced by colleagues across all Foreign Languages.
